F.A.Q.
Q. How long does the process take?
A. Depending on what surface you choose, it typically takes 2-3 weeks. Choosing a color is usually the longest part of the process. Once a decision is made we order the materials and schedule the measure and the install. Installs usually take 1/2 to one full day, which means you can have your kitchen in working order by the end of the day!
Q. Can I put new laminate over my old laminate countertops?
A. In most cases yes. If your existing laminate is stuck well and if you have a square front edge you can usually put new laminate right over the old laminate, you do however have to keep the square front edge.
Q. Do I have to seal my new stone countertops?
A. If you choose a natural stone countertop (i.e. granite, marble, soapstone) we do reccomend that you seal them every 1-2 years with a natural stone sealer.
Q. What is the difference between granite and quartz?
A. Granite is a natural stone farmed from countries all over the world. No two pieces of granite are exactly the same. Quartz is made up of 93% natural stone and 7% polymers and sealers, making it uniform and stain resistant.
Q. How do you compare to the box stores?
A. We feel as though we offer better service and a higer quality install than you could recieve at any box store. We believe that the pricing is comparable, and would be more than happy to work with and explain the differences in the quotes. All we do are countertops and tile, which means you can get a knowledgable answer to any question you might have.
Q. What is the difference between laminate, solid surface and stone?
A. Laminate has been around for years, we are all used to working with it and it is an affordable option with many pattern and style choices. Solid surface offers an "all-in-one" design with an integral sink and "seamless" application. Solid surfaces can and will scratch, but because they are a "solid" pattern all the way through, they can be buffed out if needed. Stone countertops are the hardest and most durable option. They come in a variety of colors and made into virtually countertop design. Natural stone can stain if not cared for properly, see our granite care instructions for further information.
Q. What do I need to do prior to the start of my project?
A. Many people start out in our showroom and bring a rough sketch of their layout with measurements to get an estimate. Upon measuring/templating your cabinets, please have everything cleared off the countertops. The existing sink and/or stove will need to be removed prior to the installation. As soon as the countertops are installed the sink can be hooked back up and the stove put back into place.
